For upper eyelid surgery, Dr. Day often makes incisions along the natural crease to remove excess skin, muscle, and fat. For lower eyelid surgery, incisions are usually made either just below the lash line or inside the lower eyelid, depending on the issue being addressed. Excess fat and tissue can be removed or repositioned to reduce puffiness and smooth wrinkles. The incisions will then be carefully closed with sutures. This procedure generally takes one to two hours, typically allowing patients to return home the same day.
